brad bolton > The Bridge Project, Detroit Superior bridge, Cleveland, Sept. 2009. Once a year the old trolley level of the bridge (below street level) is opened to visitors. An amazing space with spectacular views in the middle and crusty caves at the ends. A parade of musicians plays their way across the bridge. And yes, the surface is open grate with a clear view to the river way below.

brad bolton > Me with my trolley ticket that got me across this bridge on the last trolley ride, January 14, 1954. I was 5 at the time. Funny, I don't remember crossing this bridge.
brad bolton > Striking arches span the length of the bridge.
brad bolton > Light plays on water and concrete at the east end. Trolleys started at street level at Public Square, descended a ramp to this lower level, and stayed under Detroit Ave. for at least a couple miles.
